The more detail provided to the artist, the more accurate the initial cost estimates. The minimal information collected from the client includes: the nature of the subject to be illustrated; visual references, if available; the number of illustrations preferred to convey the concept; the target audience for which the final product is intended; the usage rights needed by the client; medium of delivery (i.e., print, Web, CD-ROM); delivery deadlines for final artwork; and a preferred budget range.
Budget requests are not made to take advantage of clients, nor are they used to undercut a colleague. There are infinite ways to present information. Subject matter may be quickly hand-drawn or rendered photorealistic for the cover of a magazine. The budget is always the client’s decision, and Feuer Illustration strives to deliver the absolute best results possible.
